Autumn is an animal welfare professional with more than 30 years of experience. She began her career at Oregon Humane Society as a summer youth worker and was later hired as a full time Animal Care Technician. She has managed the Animal Care department and a team of 34 people for more than 15 years and, recently, managed the Admissions department and Second Chance animal transfer program as well. Autumn joined the Benton-Franklin Humane Society as the Executive Director in August, 2017. Autumn has worked with noted veterinarians from national Universities and shelters alike, gaining valuable experiences in shelter audits, assessments and evaluations. Additionally, she has been solely responsible for the oversight, management and transformational improvement of several animal welfare organizations in Oregon, Washington and, recently, in California. Autumn has been a mentor to many, and her opinions and perspective are respected and sought out. Having spent her entire life in Portland, Autumn now calls Kennewick her new home. She lives with her husband of 27 years, her 6-year-old Rottweiler named Hercules, and Wicket – a 12-year-old Shih Tzu. Autumn has an amazing 25-year-old son and 3-year-old granddaughter, Amirah, to the family on February 16, 2017. One of Autumn’s top priorities for the Benton-Franklin Humane Society is to evaluate the needs of the community and the role of BFHS in meeting those needs. She wants to engage and involve the community and put our resources where the need is greatest. It is Autumn’s commitment to make the supporters of BFHS proud to call Benton-Franklin Humane Society their humane society.
